My First blog post (no really I wrote that)

So I have finally dived into the world of blogging! Luckily, I actually have something very exciting to talk about in my very first post as I have just found out that I have been given a place on CoppaFeel’s Fabulous Challenge to Oman!!!

Between the 4th and 10th November this year I will be trekking along the ancient footpaths of the Oman Mountains alongside Olympic gold medalist Greg Rutherford AND my total idol, GIOVANNA FLETCHER!

This incredible and unique trek takes place amongst the ‘fjords of Arabia’ and it’s not going to be easy. We’ll be taking boats to old fishing villages, then trekking through wadis, canyons, mountains and dramatic coastline visiting remote villages for 8 hours of the day, before camping in the desert with campfires under a night sky strewn with stars, I can’t wait!

However, this is not only is this an opportuity of a lifetime for me , it is also all in support of the wonderful charity CoppaFeel, who are doing an amazing job of raising awareness to the early signs and symptoms of breast cancer, which can make a huge difference to an individual’s chance of survival.

Like far too many people, I have family and friends that have been touched by this horrible disease and in some cases, it sadly has won, but I am also very fortunate to know some amazing women who put up an amazing fight and have given cancer the Vs!

Including my absolutely gorgeous friend who has (fingers & toes crossed!!!) just kicked cancer’s ass! You can read her awe inspiring story here > http://lymphomagirl.com/

I have pledged to raise £2,775 for the Oman challenge, but I don’t want to stop there! The challenge is going to be tough but it will be worth every ache and pain to be able to donate as much money as possible to such a worthy cause.

As I count down the months, weeks and then days (eek!) to the challenge, I’ll be posting about my training progess and preparations, please feel free to keep checking in!

Also, if you can spare a pound or two, please sponsor me and support CoppaFeel by visiting my justgiving page here > https://omancoppafeel.everydayhero.com/uk/get-me-to-oman-teamboobs (can also be found along the top menu).

Every penny counts!

Why I applied to join #teamboobs

It was during my nightly Facebook scroll that I spotted a post by Giovanna Fletcher about joining her to trek across Oman to raise vital funds for CoppaFeel, I was instantly intrigued!

Not only am I a huge fan & avid follower of G (I hope she doesn’t mind me calling her that as we’ve still yet to meet!) but I also love the charity CoppaFeel as they do amazing work to raise awareness of the early signs & symptoms of breast cancer. Their founder Kris is such an inspiration, using her personal battle with this horrible disease to start a conversation (dare I actually say movement) amongst young people on the importance of checking your boobs regularly & listening to what the changes in your body might be trying to tell you, which can ultimately lead to earlier diagnosis and better prognosis.

So, I finished reading all the details about the challenge and was instantly compelled to apply. I’ve never done anything like this before and was slightly daunted by the amount of money you’ve got to raise 😲but I just felt so passionate that it was fate I’d stumbled on the link and that I absolutely had to do something, anything, I could to try and make a difference in the fight against cancer.

I hate cancer. Both of my maternal grandparents died from it and I have friends and family who have suffered specifically from breast cancer but thankfully they all were strong enough to beat it. At the time of applying I felt even more helpless when it came to fighting cancer as my oldest friend was going through her first round of intense chemotherapy and I had no idea what I could do to help 😔 She was being so strong and was absolutely determined that cancer would not beat her I was in total awe of her.

I’ve mentioned Sarah ( a.k.a Lymphoma Girl) in my previous post and been sharing her blog on my social media pages. I don’t want to be the one to tell her story as she does it so well herself here>  http://lymphomagirl.com/, but the fact that she noticed that something wasn’t right and went to see her doctor straight away led to her being diagnosed early and has given her the best possible chance of beating it.

This is exactly what Kris and the wonderful people at CoppaFeel are helping to do everyday so again it just felt right for me to apply.

I never dreamed that I would get a spot on the team or that I would even be considered for it, so when the call came from CoppaFeel I was in total shock! I feel so completely honoured to have been chosen and I am so determined to do as much as I can for this amazing cause.

I’m sorry but it’s plea time again so please, please, please donate if you can here > https://omancoppafeel.everydayhero.com/uk/get-me-to-oman-teamboobs
